Hertfordshire Housing Conference Ltd
Hertfordshire Housing Conference Ltd. (HHC) is a company limited by
guarantee and set up to provide conference, training and networking
events which promote the development of high quality, affordable housing
in Hertfordshire.
The Hertfordshire Housing Conference at Sopwell House Hotel, St. Albans
is the main event organised each year by HHC. This conference was first
held in 1999 when Kerry Pollard, M.P. for St. Albans from 1997 to 2005,
had the idea of bringing together everyone involved in providing and
managing affordable housing in Hertfordshire to discuss and debate how
more homes could be built to meet the very high levels of housing need he
was encountering in his constituency work. Working initially with
sponsorship from Aldwyck and Hightown Praetorian housing associations,
the first conference was a great success and became an annual event
attracting high profile speakers including Housing Ministers, Nick
Raynsford, Hilary Armstrong, Charles Falconer and Yvette Cooper. The
conference has also been very well supported by the Housing Corporation.
Hertfordshire Housing Conference Ltd. has the following shareholders:
Kerry Pollard
Durkan Ltd
Hightown Praetorian and Churches Housing Association
Perrins Solicitors LLP
Life Build Solutions Ltd
In addition to the annual Hertfordshire Housing Conference, the company
has organised breakfast meetings with M.P.s and government or opposition
spokespersons at the House of Commons and other events aimed at
bringing together key stakeholders to discuss how to increase the supply of
affordable housing in Hertfordshire so as to meet continuing high levels of
need and demand and to promote balanced and sustainable communities.
The company is not seeking to generate surpluses from its activities.
Surpluses that do occur are reinvested into future events.
